A landmark multicentre study has recently been published, offering clarity on how the “normal uterus” should be defined using ultrasound. This work represents a significant step forward for the field, as until now, the absence of a universally accepted definition has posed challenges in both clinical practice and research.

By establishing clear parameters, the study provides a foundation for more consistent diagnosis, teaching, and international collaboration in gynaecological imaging. For clinicians, this means greater confidence in recognising and classifying uterine anomalies, while researchers gain a stronger framework for future studies.

The British Society for Gynaecological Imaging congratulates our European colleagues on this important achievement and looks forward to seeing how these findings will shape practice in the years to come.
