The BSGI is delighted to congratulate the newly elected Vice Presidents of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG).
Following a ballot of eligible Council members on Friday 12 September 2025, five new Vice Presidents have been appointed:
- Sherif Abdel-Fattah
- Jenny Barber
- Sujeewa Fernando
- Andrew Leather
- Melanie Tipples
The new Vice Presidents will take office in December 2025, joining President-Elect Dr Alison Wright as she begins her term of office.
Dr Wright commented:
“Heartfelt congratulations to my new team of elected Vice Presidents, who I know will bring energy, optimism and strong compassionate leadership to the College, as we tackle the current challenges.
Our College has a vital mission to improve the health of women and girls in the UK and globally, and I am confident that together, by listening, engaging and working closely with all of our highly valued Members and Fellows, we will achieve this.”
Each Vice President will take on a leadership portfolio, agreed with Council and the President-Elect, reflecting the College’s current priorities and long-term goals. Their work will be central in advancing the O&G specialty, ensuring the RCOG remains at the forefront of improving women’s health worldwide.
The BSGI warmly congratulates the new leadership team and looks forward to supporting their vision and priorities in the years ahead.
