A project implemented by BSGI Treasurer Mr Alan Treharne has been shortlisted for an NHS Wales Sustainability Award.

Mr Treharne sort to provide a one stop clinic for patients bleeding on HRT across his health board in rural Wales, his collaboration with the Bevan Commission resulted in his hugely successful Bevan Exemplar project: Advanced Community Gynaecology – Using Point of Care Diagnostics to Deliver Prudent Healthcare.

We are thrilled Mr Treharne’s work has been recognised by NHS Wales and nominated in the ‘Sustainable Service of the Year’ category for integrating sustainability into core service delivery and achievement of significant reduction in environmental impact.

We spoke to Mr Treharne following the news;

“I am truly honoured to be nominated for the NHS Wales Sustainability Award. This recognition is a reflection of the collaborative efforts of everyone in our community gynaecology team. It’s a privilege to contribute to prudent healthcare and to be part of a system that prioritises the well-being of patients and sustainability in healthcare.”

The awards ceremony will take place in Swansea on 20th June 2025 – Good luck Alan!
