The BSGI successfully hosted its Basic Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Workshop at the Canon Training Offices in Stevenage today. The event brought together clinicians from across the UK for a day of high-quality lectures, practical sessions, and professional networking, all centred on developing core ultrasound skills in women’s health.

The workshop provided an excellent balance of theory and practice, with delegates benefiting from detailed lectures, and small group, hands-on training sessions. The atmosphere throughout the day was one of enthusiasm and collaboration, enjoyed equally by both delegates and faculty.

The workshop was led by a distinguished faculty of experts who generously shared their knowledge and experience, including Mr Lukasz Polanski, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and BSGI Secretary; Professor Neil Pugh, Consultant Medical Physicist and BSGI Past President; Mr Dipankar Chowdhury, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology; Dr Sue Freeman, Consultant Radiologist; and Ms Miriam Baumgarten, Gynaecology Specialist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Alan Treharne, BSGI Vice President, was also in attendance, supporting with the practical training and meeting delegates throughout the day.

Delegates took part in supervised scanning sessions, gaining invaluable experience in reviewing both normal and abnormal findings. The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged active participation and peer learning, ensuring every attendee could practise key skills under expert guidance.

Both delegates and faculty praised the day for its engaging content, excellent organisation, and welcoming atmosphere. Feedback highlighted the quality of teaching, the opportunity for hands-on learning, and the supportive environment fostered by the BSGI faculty.
