Elections to BSGI committee and Trusteeship of the Society

Elections to vacant BSGI committee positions took place in early 2014 in accordance with amendments made to our constitution at previous AGMs with new elected committee members confirmed at the 2014 Annual General Meeting on Thursday 24th April 2014.

Elected committee members will also be appointed as Trustees of the BSGI charity. Please read the Charity commission information leaflets on the role of a Trustee and the Society’s constitution on our website for BSGI specific duties. The term of office will be for 3 years and may be renewable.

Elections to vacant BSGI committee membership roles took place in early 2014 in accordance with amendments made to our constitution at previous AGMs.  The list of BSGI committee members is detailed on this website.   The committee represents the broad constituency of the Society.  After the 2014 AGM, current vacancies are:

  • 1 representative of radiology trainees

Total number of committee vacancies = 1

The future nomination process will be as follows;

Nomination:

1. Nominations will be sought from all members of the society who are up-to-date with their membership fees. If your membership has lapsed you may re-activate it by sending the appropriate membership fee with a completed and signed standing order form before the nominations closing date

2. All nominations must be proposed and seconded by members who are “up-to-date” with their membership fee

3. All nominations must be completed and signed using the specified nomination form. An electronic version is available on the website as a word document. After its’ completion, you must print and sign it in order that it will be valid

4. All completed and signed forms must be received at the address specified by the date specified (Closing date and time of nominations)

5. The Society administrator will enter the name of each candidate, date of receipt of nomination, the proposer and seconder on a special form and will ensure that all nominations are valid

Display of Notifications

The nominations will be announced on the Society’s website and all members will be informed accordingly

Election:

1. A candidate may withdraw at any time before the election is concluded

2. If the number of nominations received for any constituency does not exceed the number of positions being contested, the results will be declared immediately on the website and an election for the constituency will not be necessary. The name(s) will be reported at the AGM

3. Otherwise, an election will be called for the relevant constituency(ies)

4. All candidates for these positions will have the opportunity to check the accuracy of their statements on the ballot paper

5. The order of names on the ballot paper will be chosen by a draw

6. Ballot papers will be sent to all members with details of the election process, instructions for completing the ballot papers, the return date deadline and the process for collating the votes

7. Results will be posted on the website and announced to members
